This all in one filter system is designed for small ponds up to 750 Litres with a small stock of fish.
Mechanical & Biological Pond Water Filtering Powered by Solar
A double top layer of Physical Foam Filter and two side pieces, ensures the filter box removes physical debris to keep the pump clean and clear.
Zeolite or Gravel Medium Option
Zeolite is ideal for ammonia removal in aquariums and pond filters alike. With a micro porous structure known as a “molecular sieve” Zeolite is full of countless tiny holes the size of molecules. They can hold on to a whole range of other different molecules including Ammonia (NH3+).
It is perfect as the medium to remove Ammonia thereby clarifying Your Pond Water improving its Purity and acts as a water conditioner.
After Zeolite has been used for a few months it can be 'recharged' by placing it into a strong salt solution for a few hours
The Gravel will perform almost the same function as the Zeolite medium but will not remove ammonia, the gravel also does take longer to feel the benefits As it takes time for the good bacteria to colonise the gravel, however arguably it is a more sustainable solution.
Solar Powered Filter Pump
The Pond Filter is powered with the Sunspary 500 solar pump, producing a good consistent flow of 400 litres per hour, so after the water has been filtered you can enjoy the bonus of a fountain spray feature using the fountain attachments included.
You can also attach the pump after filtration, to a water feature or pond spitter of your choice (Max pump height after filtration via additional 12mm tubing is 45 cms).
The Pump also comes with a powerful panel and a large battery backup system to ensure more consistent flow.
Filtration is achieved in 2 ways
1) Large Foam Filter situated inside the unit offers mechanical filtration by removing solids up to 7 mm.
2) Water is sucked through the zeolite or pond gravel biomedia to achieve biological filtration, & extracts ammonia from the water
This a an Ideal entry level Solar Powered Pond Filter and keeps a fish pond very clean with very little maintenance involved, easy to set up & install, very economical & reliable.
Update : Please note the new updated 2020 version comes with the Sunspray SE 500 producing 400 lph!

Solar Powered Pond Filter with Battery Backup - Installation Instructions
Components Included:
Solar Panel & Battery Box
Water Pump / Filter Box / Mesh Medium
Five Meters of Cable between Pump and Battery Box
Wall Mounting Kit
Ground Stake
Firstly you need to wash the zeolite with a hose, this comes in netting so is very easy to do, we use very fine zeolite for maximum filtration but during transit dust can be created so rinse the zeolite thoroughly out before assembling the feature
Step 1: Determine Installation Location
Select a location that receives ample sunlight for optimal solar panel efficiency. Ensure the chosen spot allows easy access for maintenance.
Step 2: Mounting the Solar Panel
Option 1: Ground Mounting
Insert the ground stake into the soil at the desired location.
Attach the solar panel to the stake using the provided hardware.
Tilt the solar panel towards the sun for maximum sunlight exposure.
Option 2: Wall Mounting
Use the wall mounting kit to securely attach the solar panel to a wall or other vertical surface.
Adjust the angle of the panel to face the sun during peak sunlight hours.
Step 3: Installing the Filter Box and Pump
Place The pump inside the filter box
Feed the cable from the pump through one of the holes in the top of the filter
Now install your filter medium either gravel or zeolite around the pump
Push down the upper foam filters and close the filter box
Place the filter box in You're pond adding any tube extenders necessary
Ensure the filter box is level and stable.
You can also attach the LED lights at this point which are best slipped over the extension tubes and sitting on top of the filter box.
Step 4: Connecting the Battery Box & Panel
Locate the battery box.
Connect the pump cable to the designated port on the battery box.
Ensure a secure connection and use any included cable management features.
Now Connect the battery box to the solar panel with the provided cable
Step 5: Powering On the System
Turn on the system using the switches on the battery box.
The system will automatically draw power from the solar panel during sunlight hours.
The integrated battery provides backup power during low-light periods or at night.
Step 6: Maintenance and Operation
Regularly clean the filter box and pump to ensure optimal performance.
Monitor the battery status and recharge as needed during prolonged cloudy days.
Adjust the solar panel angle seasonally for maximum sunlight exposure.
Important Tips:
If wall-mounted, check the wall mounting kit is securely fastened.
Keep the solar panel free from shading objects to maximize sunlight absorption.
Ensure the filter box is placed in an area with adequate water circulation.
Following these installation instructions will help you set up and maintain your solar-powered pond filter with battery backup for efficient and sustainable pond water management.
A solar-powered pond filter with a battery backup works by harnessing energy from the sun to power a water filtration system designed to keep a pond clean and healthy. The addition of a battery backup ensures continuous operation even during periods of low sunlight or at night. Here's a step-by-step explanation of how it works:
Solar Panel Absorption:
The system starts with a solar panel that converts sunlight into electrical energy. This solar panel is typically made of photovoltaic cells that generate DC (direct current) electricity when exposed to sunlight.
Power Generation and Storage:
The generated electricity is either directly used to power the pond filter system or stored in a rechargeable battery for later use. The battery serves as a reservoir, storing excess energy during sunny periods to ensure the system's operation during low-light conditions.
Pond Filtration System:
The pond filter system includes various components such as a water pump, & filtration media. These components work together to filter out debris, promote beneficial bacteria growth, and maintain water quality.
Mechanical Filtration:
Water from the pond is circulated through mechanical filtration components, which typically include filters or screens that physically trap debris such as leaves, twigs, and larger particles. This step helps prevent these materials from settling at the bottom of the pond.
Biological Filtration:
Many solar-powered pond filters incorporate biological filtration, creating a habitat for beneficial bacteria to thrive. These bacteria aid in breaking down and converting harmful substances like ammonia and nitrites into less harmful compounds, promoting a balanced ecosystem.
Circulation and Aeration:
The water pump not only moves water through the filtration system but also promotes circulation and aeration. Adequate water movement helps prevent stagnation, improves oxygen levels, and creates a healthier environment for fish and other aquatic life.
Battery Backup Operation:
During periods of low sunlight or at night, the solar panel may not generate enough power to sustain the pond filter system. This is where the battery backup comes into play. The system automatically switches to using stored energy from the battery, ensuring uninterrupted filtration.
Automatic Operation:
Many solar-powered pond filters with battery backup are designed to operate automatically. They may include sensors or timers that activate the filtration system as needed. Some systems may also have backup batteries with sufficient capacity to last through several days of low sunlight.
Charging the Battery:
During sunny days, the solar panel continues to generate electricity, simultaneously powering the pond filter system and replenishing the battery's charge. This ensures the battery is ready for use during periods of insufficient sunlight.
By combining solar power with a battery backup, these systems offer an energy-efficient and sustainable solution for maintaining water quality in ponds, providing continuous operation even when sunlight is limited.
I purchased this pond filter and am really pleased with the results. After a week my pond is crystal clear and looking very healthy. I would certainly recommend this product.
Set up easy once I read the leaflet!
I have just set it up with some tips from Nathan. It's working brilliantly and the fish seem to like it too.
Excelent
Easy to set up and install. Running within 30 minutes.
Very good service. Well pleased
works well
Installed in pond over a week ago a few days after we cleaned pond out , it had already started to turn green , It is still about the same color which is good as it would normally have got really bad by now, the fountain is really good , and holds power well .
Good value, could be more compact
Doesn’t cost that much more than to buy the pump alone...the 500 pump produced a steady flow through the filter and attached tubing.
